Happy New Year! I'm just a little late. And Christmas. Crap. Oh, and Hanukkah. Um. Yeah. WTH? Thankfully my new year's resolution is to become re-addicted to the Internet. I have really been slacking lately. I don't even check my email every day anymore. How have I let this happen? I am so ashamed.
One major distraction? My family. Jesus Christ do they have NEEDS. And lately, as this household has succumbed to one communicable illness after another, their needs have had needs. I feel like I have done more laundry in the last 4 weeks than I did in the entirety of my twenties. And we have molars coming in too. Willa's that is. It's been fun around here. Actually it really has been fun when it hasn't been pukey or poopy. We had a really lovely holiday break that somehow wasn't overshadowed by the ick. There was lots of cozy family time and, thank God given the state of our health, zero travel. Lowell and Willa were showered with gifts for both the gift-giving holidays that we celebrate and, Lowell especially, was charmed by the magic of the season. Although he has fully moved on to the next fantastical creature that will invade his home and bring him gifts and candy.
L: Is the Easter Bunny coming?
Me: Yeeees. Not for awhile though.
L: Is the Easter Bunny nice?
Me: Sure.
L: As nice as Santa?
Me: Nobody is as nice as Santa, kid.
L: Where does the Easter Bunny live?
Me: (Genuinely stumped). Uh, I really don't know.
L: Hmm. I think he lives at the East Pole.
Okay, I have made the first step in my journey back to Internet addiction. Next up, going to open my RSS reader tomorrow. One day at a time, one day at a time.
I was always stumped by the Easter Bunny home as well. I thought it should be more like the Wizard of Oz witches, with magic gift-givers living in all four corners.
If there really was an East pole, I wonder where it would be. I can see the tooth fairy living in Ecuador.

The tale of a bunny from the wrong side of the tracks.
East side represent! (I think that's what the kids are saying these days ... )
Seriously, tell Lowell I wish I'd thought of that. Of COURSE he's from the East Pole!

Welcome back!
Though he's cool on Santa, I think O. is scared of the tooth fairy. He lost a tooth before x-mas, and he won't let us put it under his pillow. Maybe he's orally retentive. It would make a certain sense, given his genes.

East Pole is good. Makes sense. I told Owen the Easte Bunny lives on Santa's street at the north pole. Figured I'd put all the characters on the same block.
I just opened my feedreader for the first time in months. It's awesome. some of my feeds don't even exist as blogs any more.
Hope y'all stay healthy now, y'hear?

Re the Easter Bunny, check out this, one of my fave New Yorker cartoons. Indeed, it is up on my fridge and has been for years:
