I packed up and put away a box of newborn clothes that thermal-man (see picture) has grown out of. I can't believe that he has grown so much that stuff doesn't fit him. I am already getting nostalgic. The last few weeks have been amazing. He is developing so quickly! He has gone from barely being able to make eye contact at 6 weeks to now playing peek-a-boo. His smiles and coos set off little flares in my heart. In the bath he shimmies and squirms and squeals and we keep him in there until the water is cold just to watch him do it a little bit longer. He is just about to laugh. He opens his mouth at the height of some small pleasure and you can almost hear it. It's all things I have seen other babies do a million times but nothing can prepare you for the sheer joy of watching your own baby make all these little steps. It is an absolutely pure experience that makes up for the crying and the fatigue and the constant smell of spitup. God is very clever i tell you what. Otherwise there'd be a lot of babies on Ebay.
