Things have been a little sad around here. Matthew's grandmother, Evelyn, died last week. She was not well and it was expected but it is still a shock. You can never say goodbye enough. Matthew was very close to her and the last couple weeks while she has been failing have been hard for him. Matthew's mom is here for some grief therapy (i.e. Lowell immersion) and we are enjoying her visit immensely, however sad the occasion. Especially Lowell, who is getting drenched in love and attention. His two favorite things. Pretty much everybody's two favorite things.

The presence of children seems to assuage the wounds of death. They go about their lives not knowing about the sting of mortality. They ask for macaroni and cheese and they eat it joyfully. Somehow being about the business of serving something like that to little ones reinforces the idea that life moves forward.
